I have a friend who just can't get out of his funk. He thinks the whole world is against him. He used to be a great guy, but his wife was killed a few years ago. Since then, he can't get out of depression.

try chicken soup for the soul books..they have SO many different ones geared toward specific things...like Chicken Soup for Nurses, for Kids, for Workers, for Grandparents...etc....

also, if he has time, perhaps the Bible... like Romans 5-8; basically it says that we go thru these hard times, and we need to use it to HELP ourselves become stronger in the future. the more we go thru, the more experience and wiser we are, if we can turn it into a positive. good luck~

also, u can do a Yahoo Q&A... like "I'd like to hear stories of people who have lost loved ones, and how they've coped" or something? :)

Maybe you can find a support group for him and go with him. Death is a hard thing to over come. I know I was in a funk for quite sometime after I lost my son. It seems like your life just stands still. But just do what your doing and be his friend and be there for him. Get him out and about don't let him not do anything. But maybe you should talk to him about going to see a doctor and talk to him about medicine that helped me. It's a chemcial embalance that sometimes you just can't help and just need a little help to become your old self again. Also seeing someone on a regular basic's might help. I needed that too and it was really good for me. Good luck and you are a good friend to care so much about your friend!
