I bought a 4 bdrm. 2 bath, 2-story Cape Cod w/ one car garage, 1100 sq. ft. (not very big...cozy), nice size lot, the loan was for 90K (included all the insurance, costs, etc., the house was 85K). I live in south-central Wisconsin.

I live in Arkansas. We bought two acres for twenty thousand dollars and are going to build a concrete-block semi-buried two-family house. The blocks will cost about 3k and the rest of the material another 15k. The septic system will run about 3k, the water line from the public water system about 1k, and electricity about $500. Bulldozing will run another 5k, probably. Doing the labor ourselves, we figure the house will be done for under 30k. It should be worth about 100k when finished.

Zero dollars I never bought a house. You can always get a loan from a bank if you need money to buy a house. Its best to rent to buy then to go out and buy right away I think.
