I am planning on cleaning and painting a set of plastic patio furniture, and the instructions that I found at Krylon.com suggest cleaning the pieces with an ammonia-based cleaner before spray painting them. Is there a leading brand of ammonia-based cleaner that I should look for when I go to the store?

Go to the household cleaning section of your local department store and simply look for a product that says ammonia. Read the directions carefully and make sure that the area the ammonia is being used in is well ventilated. Do not use a chlorine based product as others have suggested.
