Hmmm... sounds like your task manager has been disabled by the administrator. Ask them.

Someone altered the registry keys allowing task manager to regular users. You'll need to get into the administrator account and update these keys, see the weblink:

Has various ways to fix this issue.
I would recommend using Method #2:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/EnableTM.reg
because I believe that this would be the simplest way to change that value all you have to do is double click it and agree to insert it.
I checked the .reg file and it does exactly what method #1 is so there is no concern about that file.

attempt searching the microsoft information superhighway website. It has the answer because I used to have the placement ad solved it from there. If I do remember properly it ought to contain modifying the registry even if it isn't complicated and is defined ok.

if u wer the administrator of ur computer, ur computer is possibly affected by a virus. it desabled ur administrator previliages.
