I've been watching horror movies since I was 5 (the first 2 movies I remember seeing were the old b&w Frankenstein, and Night of the Living Dead).
Most of the ones coming out now are crap. Instead of watching remake after remake, check out some of the Japanese horror movies. Most are dubbed, but the stories are creepier in the original language with subtitles. Try some of these:
Ringu (original Ring)
Kairo (original Pulse)
Oldboy
Audition
A Tale of Two Sisters
You can find most at Best Buy, Blockbuster, or Walmart.

I love horror movies. My 3 year old loves them too and can't wait for Mommy to go to bed so she can watch them with her Daddy. You don't scared because you realize it is just a movie. Now what is the best one? Silence of the Lambs, The Exorcist, Near Dark? Even I don't know.

Well, there are your two types. Old classic black and whites like Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Dracula etc. etc. And then there are blood and guts films. Try this one for fun. Its called "Ticks". It'll make your skin crawl. Dont watch it if your home is in need of a pest controller!

I like the feeling of being scared. I always tell my kids that if a movie can make you cry, laugh out loud, or scream than its a good movie!
