No, but part of NYC is in Long Island (Brooklyn and Queens)

Just to confuse matters a little more, Long Island City is in NY, not in Long Island.

(Actually it is part of Queens, so it is on Long Island. However, when people say Long Island, they mean the whole island except for the parts that are in NYC.)

(And an arguement can be made that Long Island is in fact not an island at all, but a peninsula.)

No it's considered Long Island. Long Island is hard to get to from NYC maybe about an hour and a half away.

Two of the 5 boroughs of NYC are on Long Island...Queens and Brooklyn. The rest of Long Island is made up of Suffolk and Nassau Counties...not part of NYC, but part of NY State.

no. technically queens and brooklyn are on the "long island". But only those two buroughs are a part of NYC. The other ones (that are not part of long island) are the bronx, manhattan, and staten island.
Long island is definitely NOT a part of NYC. That's like saying "is oklahoma a part of texas"? um, no.

No. Long Island is an entity unto itself as part of New York State, It is not one of the "five boroughs" that make up New York - that is, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island and, of course, Manhattan.
