JUST BECUZ YOU SPEAK EBONICS DOESNT MEAN THAT YOU CANT SPEAK PROPERLY. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT YOUR STUPID OR ILLITERATE BECUZ YOU DONT SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH. I THINK AS LONG AS YOU USE IT AT CERTAIN TIMES AND PLACES THEN THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. SPEAKING IT DOESNT MEAN YOUR IGNORANT. NOT EVERYONE SPEAKS COMPLETLY CORRECT ENGLISH. EVEN SOME OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE.

Nothing, its a form of expression.Doesn't have anything to do with an individuals educational status. The educated elite are afraid to use it, or even contribute to its vernacular because they lack the ability to do think on their own. they would rather pretend the usage is absurd in the presence of their peers, until they need to buy coke in undesirable neighborhoods. Just as Picasso had to master drawing the human anatomy, before he was able to manipulate it. most people who speak Ebonics do so because it is an option. Na-mean'? also, it is nothing more than slang. the word "Ebonics" is just a tool used to educationally discriminate African-Americans. Feel me?

If those who speak ebonics want to partake of this with others speaking it, its not a problem. However, when people decide that educational standardized tests be modeled and written toward a specific segment of the American population where the official language is English so that those speaking ebonics can pass the test is ludicrous. These folks sat in the same classroom as those non ebonic speaking pupils, therefore are armed with the same tools necessary to perform at the same levels as their peers.

Ebonics is an insulting term used to supposively define the manner is which blacks speak, but is completely invalid. Every country, race, and culture has their own slang. There is slang that is used mostly by blacks, but this so-called ebonics is a play off the way black slaves used to speak many years ago during slavery and for a while after abolition. We of course no longer speak that way. The use of term is ignorant and rude.

Using Ebonics make you sound uneducated, disrespectful of others and forces people to label you according to certain stereotypes that may not apply to you as a person. No one expects perfect diction and syntax. You’re correct, not even the highly educated speak perfectly, however they do put forth the effort. When trying to be successful in life you need to be able to communicate point clearly in order for others to comply respectfully in the manner that you wish.

ebonics is for the illiterate...which there are a lot of..uneducated fools that can't understand the concept on how to speak because they are ghetto and don't know any other way of life..while the 90% that don't speak it just look at them like idiots and thank god that they were raised correctly!

I totally agree with you however, because of your poor grammar – using “their” when you should have used “there” and using “write” when you meant “right” – it does not help you make your point.

I respect what you are trying to say, though. I have a master’s degree and I can speak both proper English and Ebonics. I know when to speak properly and I know when it is okay to speak slang. I also understand that it is easy to make mistakes when typing. ;-)
