We're vacationing in San Francisco next spring and want to stay on the Fisherman's Wharf.Possibly the Hyatt or Hilton. We welcome different ideas, however, and would also appreciate any comments on whetther staying there is our best option or if there are other places we should consider. We are going for a week and really want to be in the best area to see as much as possible. Thanks for your help.

San Francisco is pretty compact so wherever you stay you will be pretty close to most attractions. If you want tons of people and lots of traffic fisherman's wharf is the way to go. However, we always stay at the Hilton near Union Square--it's close to shopping, restaurants and attractions. Also, if you hop on the trolley which is only 2 blocks away you can get down to fishermans wharf quite easily.
The hotel is big, mostly conventions and tourists--however the rooms are clean and they usually have decent rates. Check out the web site www.hilton.com
In my opinion fisherman's wharf is WAY overrated--however go see it once and then you will see what I am talking about.
Have fun!
