Because that's boring. We look at real faces all the time. It's way more fun to be a cartoon, or a monkey!

I actually made a new friend from a different State then where I live because she asked a question and got a very rude answer. I answered her question adding don't pat any attention to that rude and hurtful answer that person made. She emailed me and we have been friends since. She had her real picture on here.

Are you serious??? There are entirely too many predators out there on line and just showing you own face can set you up to get attacked. It is just an extra safety precaution.

Some of us aren't good enough with computers to put a picture in place of our avatar. I tried to start a 360 page and got no where. It's enough that I can turn it on and type at this point.

I do, because I want people to know "me", as a person and not just some one who answers peoples questions.
I want people to associate the face with thier answers, so that they will see that, "I am what I am, and that is all that I am".. I loved popeye when I was a kid :)
I wish you well..
