I have this thing that I live by and wonder just how many other people think the same thing or same way.
"Treat people the way you would want to be treat" - I think if everyone would do this the world would be a better place. Let people getting hurt by other people and so forth.
"Put yourself in other people shoes or even animals" - you would know them very well as you keep studying them.

Well that is another way of putting the Newton’s third law of Motion –
“To every action there is an equal but opposite reaction
So, if you to treating others badly, it would mean that you treat yourself the same way; because we treat others just the way we treat ourselves. Plus soon or later that is the way universe would start treating us, because that is the energy we are sending out into the universe so that is the energy we will come around sooner or later, as life always completes a full circle.
If you are sending out the energy of intimidation today, someday soon or may be in next life, you will have to experience intimidation yourself, as you yourself are carrying the seeds of the energy of intimidation within you and one day soon they will germinate and you will have to harvest the crop, whether you are ready or not.

I don't agree with the "golden rule" one bit, because not everyone wants to be treated the same way. What if some big strong guy constantly wants challenges and believes in nothing other then survival of the fittest...then nobody weaker then him will be treated by him in an appropriate manner. That is why we have laws...it helps to keep everyone on the same page.

Your first quote is more popularly known as the "Golden Rule." Jesus said in the gospels, "Do to others as you they do to you." It is a noble thought, as is the second, but one important aspect has been left out; The reason why people don't practice these "rules" as a habit is because of another bad habit, sin. Sin is the root of the and all the problems of greed, hatred, envy, etc are symptoms of the problem. Read Galatians 5:16-22, it will give a good picture of both sides. The sin nature(the flesh) and the spirit(the part obeidienct to God) Then read Romans 7:7-25, read about Paul's struggles.

From the time I was very small and still believed in God and went to Sunday school, this was the one thing that stuck. Many, many years later, I still stop and think, "Would I want to be treated that way?", and I know this has made me a better person, or at least a person I like.

i think those are great sayings, but most people want to be treated there own way, and if i treated a person the way i wanted to be treated they would be aggrivated because it's not the way they want to be treated, as for the putting of shoes, everyones, different, again... people make decisions on opinions and what they are used to

These sayings have come from the distilled wisdom of the people for a happy living in this world.But it may not be followed by all people as different people are bound to have different opinion on all things.That is the natural law.So what we can do is to follow if we consider these sayings are good for us as well as for others and accept the fact that others may not follow.
