The Kraken in the Pirates 2 movie is right from Nords mythology and biblical myth as well. Also, Davie Jones is a major part of old English sailor myths.

Superman has major ties with biblical myth, with stories similar with those about Jesus. The movie Dogma, the Disney cartoon Gargoyls had tons of European mythology.

Most modern media has ties to myths.

Look at the Matrix Movies, StarWars, The Lord of the Rings -- these are all the classic hero journey.
