Because people (mainly men) have made it out to be the worst insult you can give a woman so we flip out when it is used. It's like any other word in the world, if people make a big deal about "Toe" then everyone would hate to be called that as well.

I like the letter "C" because it's the first letter in my name. I don't flip out over the "C-word" because I'm not one to do flips, but I don't like it either. No one should ever call anyone that name. It's not very pretty. I like flower. I'm just kidding. If my husband called me the C-word he would be permanently mutilated. I don't go around calling guys disgusting names.

in the eastern U.S., it isn't silent. in the Southwest, that is often (incorrectly) silent. In Georgia, human beings do not use "susceptible" because they don't realize what the be conscious skill, and so that is difficult to assert if the "L" ought to be suggested or no longer.
