If you have Sky, then you have reception. You pay Sky for all the other channels, you pay the license for the good old BBC.
The fact is the BBC have the most balanced and wide ranging programming of any other channel in the world and the only reason why is because it's not trying to please advertisers or shareholders or investors, it's made for license paying people like yourself - and as a license payer you do actually have a say in the programming if you don't like what you're seeing.
Additionally, it doesn't put out an endless torrent of reality TV programmes, or have adverts every 5 minutes, it puts out the news for your local area, it has educational programming as well as consistently introducing good new UK talent to us. I personally think it's worth it if you give it a chance.

I presume your SKY is via sattellite - in which case the BBC channels will most likely be included.
Legally - the BBC imposes a TAX on television recieving equipment, whether or not you watch anything oe not - it is the simple act of having access to it.
This TAX (masquerading as a 'licence') is concidered by some to be illegal, as it infringes our civil rights to NOT watch the BBC programs, but still charges us....imagine if a restaurant charged us for the lobster just because we could have it if we wanted...not because we did. The sooner the BBC is funded by commercial means the better, instead of fleecing the British public £100+ a pop for what they then EXPORT as FREE programming to the US, Canada & beyond...

Sounds like you have a rough deal, yeah its pretty bad you still have to pay the regular TV license and Sky etc, I think when people buy Sky they shouldn't have to pay the BBC as well, it should be worked out between comapnies!

Unfortunately, the reason you have to have a colour tv licence is because you have colour receiving equipment, also you could have a black and white tv and a video recorder and you would need a colour licence. I don't agree with it at all, and because of all the crap that is on the tv, it ought to be pay per view like others have said.
p.s. places like Currys and other electrical outlets pass on your name and address when you buy a television or video to the tv licensing authority.

Why do we have to pay for a TV license fullstop.
It's a load of s**!
The BBC did not invent the TV so why should they be paid in order for us to watch TV. We should have a choice as to whether we receive BBC channels or not - that would be fairer.

even if you have a freeview box working on a black & white tv, you must have a colour licence, as the equipment is receiving colour programmes!!
Wait until you are 75 years of old age and you get the licence for free !!!!!!!!!!!!!
wonders never cease
