It could be labor. If your midwife is this unhelpful, I'd get to an ER immediately. I wouldn't want her delivering my child.

Personally, I wouldn't have a midwife -- I always had real doctors which come in handy if there's an emergency .... but maybe that'sjust me. Yes, it's normal for all that pressure. FYI - my first delivery (and I couldn't have anything for pain) took over 30 hours and a real bright nurse came up with a catheter (realizing I had not and could not pee) -- it didn't hurt because I was in labor anyway but guess what happened? A baby came out -- he couldn't get past the bladder!!! It's kind of the same feeling regarding the pooping. You are just feeling pressure of the baby down low. Everything moves around. I didn't read previous questions but I'm assuming you are almost due, aren't you? Good luck. It's all normal -- the back pain too. If you are really early, I'd call a regular doctor.

I think it's time for you to change midwives or else try to get a doctor to start seeing you now. You don't say how far along you are and I know some doctors are reluctant to take on a pregnancy case at a late stage.

There is a very real possibility that you could be in back labor. I think if I were you, I'd go to the hospital just to get it checked out. They have a doctor of the day who would be able to see you or figure out what is going on.

I don't think I would wait around too long before getting checked out. You've not mentioned if your midwife came to check you either.

It's up to you, but I don't think I would be using her if you are not happy with her. You need to be happy with whoever is delivering your baby. You need to trust them and it doesn't sound like you have that with her.

Good luck!

I would suspect calling your GYNECOLOGIST would be a better idea, and maybe hiring a different midwife. If this one is not helpful NOW, do you want them helping yopu when you are in labor?

Back pain can sometimes be pressure on yout sciatic nerve from the baby. Many women have pain from the baby taking up space. This is also why you have to pee a lot, if yopu are far along in your pregnancy, the baby is pressing on your bladder, leaving little room for urine and the urge to pee all the time. If the baby has dropped, ti could also be putting pressure on your bowels and make you feel like you need to poop.

Ok people have back labor and I did and guess what the front of my stomach never hurt. Pressure in the groin sign baby has moved down and pushing on cervix feels like a softball pushed between your legs. Are you peeing alot or is it fluid leaking? If it is peeing go to your OB and have them check for a Urinary tract infection could be bladder and kidneys are infected. Midwife should have never blown you off if this is her treatment for you I would seek a new one asap. They say pregnancy is as close as a woman comes to death because so many things can go wrong. Good luck betting UTI, keep drinking lots of water until you see doctor.

It sounds like a bladder infection causing you to take so long to pee this is because of the baby drooping into position. If this infection continues you will go into labor. It probably sounds like you are ready to have it, but you really don't want an infection before delivery cause it will give both you and the baby a fever.

The other thing is that you may be in the beginning stage of labor and it sounds like back labor too--The Worst
The feeling like you got to go poop--Question? did you poop alot in the past day or two--cause if you did you are in labor

How far along are you? Have you passed your plug? Just read your other posts and that's what that mucus was, so get ready, I'd say this is it!

monitor your contractions, back ache is a good sign of early labor. I would insist on having her check you, (or perhaps see a ob/gyn?)

Any way get her there with you immediately. Women have done this forever w/out medical assistace, but mortality rates used to be a lot higher. You should have a competent professional there, be it your midwife, a nurse, or a dr.

Good luck and congrats!

Sorry, how many weeks are you along??

Have you tried to time to see how far apart your pains are?
(Time from the beginning of one until the beginning of the next)

It sounds like the baby may be sitting fairly low right now causing the pressure and making it difficult to pee.

I would say if you can't get a hold of your midwife, call or go into your closest L&D, they have to see (treat you) once you walk through their doors, we can not turn anybody away.

And if it turns out to be false labour, WHO CARES! Your better safe then sorry.

Just do not strain or push if it feels like you need to have a bowel movement.

Id go to a hospital and get checked out. You could be in labor and I know since you have a midwife you don't plan on drugs but something could be going wrong so you really should get checked out by a doctor.

It could be labor with all the back pain. I would go to the ER if the midwife doesn't come through. Good luck!

Anyone on this internet can say they are an RN or nurse so do not even rely on the internent for your answers.

If you want help...contact your local hospital Labor and Delivery and speak to a nurse directly there. That is what I do.
