Hello,
I've been to the government website donotcall.gov and put my name on the list, b ut now I'm getting political and charity calls. Don't get me wrong I give to charities, ones I know to be legit, if you call me with the head cancer foundation, chances are I won't give to your organization. These people/foundations always call during my kids lunch/nap time. Granted I know I don't have to answer the phone, but this happens on a daily basis, if it didn't happen so often, I wouldn't be so pissed. I've even called some of these places back to stop calling and they won't. Any suggestions? I've worked for a company/call center that if people called and asked for us not to call them, we would take their names out of our computer system and not call them. Are companies not so polite anymore? It's wasting my time and waking my kids. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to turn off my phones or disconnect them because I have elderly parents that may need me at any moment. HELP!!

Ask to be removed from their list. After 30 days, if they call you more than twice, you have the legal right to sue them. Knowing this, I don't think they'll continue to call after you've asked to be removed.

It's become a 2-phone society. Look into a package deal on DSL that would include a phone, computer link and cell phone on one bill.

Even before those package deals I had a wall phone for dial-up access. Hooked the modem up also to a voice answering software. Had a ball rigging up -- "Press 1 for English" Press 2 for Swahili... Press 9 for Espanol ... Let me repeat those options ... Thank you. Press 1 for Bible Verse of the Day. Press 2 for Sexy Ladies. Press 3 for Sexy Men...Press 4 if this is an Emergency. Thank you.....

The fact is dontcall list is not valid if you are a former customer. Congress left that loophole. The cell phone company cannot give out your cell phone number.

I get the political name, log into their website, find a phone number and call! I just did that right now and he promised I will be removed. I told him that if the calls did not stop then I would vote for the opposition!

Remove your phone, the law has a hole in it allowing both of these type calls. I am on the list but still have direct tv calling me three or more times a day. I do not think it is being enforced anyway.

at the end of the recording there should be like a menu or something they will ask you would you like some info and some other stuff then they will ask you if you would like to be taken off of their call list hit the number for yes or if it is someone calling you ask that person nicely and respectively to have you tooken off of their calling list.

Is there a way for you to monitor the calls before answering or ask your IP/phone company to block calls from certain addressess?

I suggest turning off your land-line phones and only having a cell phone. I used to get TONS of phone solicitations and they almost entirely went away when I switched to a cell phone.

buy an answering machine, they don't like those and after awhile they will stop calling you.
