If it was population control, it failed to put a dent in the problem. Not to mention, there are much better targets for that end. The trade center was full of healthy functioning people. If population control was the purpose, why not go for someplace with a denser population, more health issues, and less money.
I do not, however, believe it was completely a terrorist plot. Ever seen the Long Kiss Goodnight with Geena Davis? I have suspicions that it was just an attempt to get Americans back in the "patriotic" saddle. It's a proven fact that our economy goes up when we have skirmishes with other countries... Everyone gets all "lets support our troops" and "only buy American"...at least until we start feeling safe to do what we want again...

That's a harsh way to look at 9-11. There is debate as to whether it was really Al-queda or our own government, but honestly whoever was behind the attack is a #1 A class jerk. It is a horrible tragedy and should never be referred to as population control. If the government really wanted to control the population then they would be supporting insurance companies covering the cost of contraceptives, abortions, vasectomies, and getting tubes tied.
