my little brother can't have a cellphone yet, but still wants to text his friends and things like the sidekick is a texter and a phone so he can't have it so can anyone help me find a device that just texts

Chat now communicators can not only text but they can call and send photos! they would be a perfect phone for him. They sell them in many places around the country even @ wal-mart.

If it helps, the wireless carrier can disable the voice option so devices like the sidekick can be used for text only.

Almost every mobile company provide a way to send a text message for the mobile phone via an email address.

You used such a device to ask your question. It's called a computer.
If you use Yahoo Messenger you can send messages to your friends who are not on line and they will see them the next time they log on.
The other instant messaging services may well have the same feature.

There is an option on Yahoo Messenger that ypu can text. But you have to add the cell phone numbers first before you can text.

You may use a PDA with WiFi connectivity, such as the Palm T/X or Palm LifeDrive, and even the older Palm Tungsten C. However, you will need to be in a hotspot location to be able to go online.
