I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and find that it is harder and harder to use travelers cheques. How easy is it to cash them in Egypt? Thanks in advance.

Very difficult, if possible at all. The best thing is to use MASTER or VISA. You definitely will need cash with you, as many shops, restaurants, taxis do not deal with credit cards, but at the airport and at most of the important tourist locations & hotels you can find ATM machines.
Another thing, one US is approx 6 Egyptian pounds. Always change at official sites. You will find the food & transportation very cheap.

Hi I am in Cairo right now. I never use Traveller's cheques, just bring a little cash and use your ATM....unless you are travelling off the beaten path then use all cash.

its realy easy...i go to egypt a lot travelling back wards and forwards from my country and i take travellers cheques every time..you can change them at any bank. or at any hotel. i do believe that they are now getting more popular in some apartments as well. you cannot go wrong and its a lot better than taking dollars..have fun..

I find it is much easier to take USD and exchange for local currancy at my hotel or a local bank. I only carry what I think I need and keep the rest in the hotel safe.
