The deadline for any non-waiver trades ends today (July 31, 2006) at 4 PM ET/ 1PM Pacific. After that, any trades that are made after this date or time would have to clear waivers first before any deal can be made. The non-waiver deal means that they can make the deal straight-up without restrictions, as long a both parties can agree on a trade and approve by MLB commisioner's office. Of course, the big names that are still avalible would be Soriano and Tejada, as well as Brad Lidge, Greg Maddux and many more. These kinds of deal could change the landscape for teams wanting to make a playoff or build a future, so everybody is paying attention to this.
Of course, trades with waiver can also make impacts too (the Brian Giles-Jason Bay trade, Larry Walker to St. Louis, etc.), so there might be more than the deadline.
