How does this news get ignored by the major media?(CNN, NBC, FOX. etc.)?
Quoting Buzz Aldrin "There was something out there, close enough to be observed, and what could it be?
Obviously, we weren't going to blurt out, 'Hey Houston, we've got something moving alongside of us and we don't know what it is,' you know?"

I don't know what everyone else is thinking but, a NASA astronaut has a bit more credibility than the average person that claimed he saw something unusual.
Did I miss the breaking news on television or am I right and the major media ignored this one...

Hi - Yes, I've heard this before - it's also along the lines with the moon landing also being faked. You can go here: http://batesmotel.8m.com/
There are also video clips of supposed "footage" of the landing, which I've seen before and it was very cleverly done - and looked quite real.
Also, on a more recent flight, there's video footage of what looks like something moving quite FAST IN SPACE while the astronauts were doing a spacewalk - I can't find it now, but if you look carefully, you will probably be able to find it.

Buzz Aldrin has made some pretty outlandish claims over the years and has for the most part been drummed out of the Astronautical community because he is a publicity seeker. What he saw was investigated and was determined to be either a piece of ice or an effect of traveling through the terminus of the Van Allen belt. Since the object in question was traveling in the same direction and at the same velocity of the craft it most likely came from the craft itself...ice.

It's the same reason why early accounts of the Wright's successful flight at Kitty Hawk were not reported in the papers. It seemed too unbelievable and no one wanted to look "bad" by reporting something that could not later be verified.
Just because the media didn't want to report on Aldrin's experience doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The government enjoys convering up what it can't control. If Aldrin did see a Ufo then that's definately something that the US government cant control, so it get's covered up.
The media is only interested in blood. Pain and suffering sells on the tv, newspapers and radio. The media's only there to make profit. So it's not surprising to me that they didn't cover the story.

I suspect that with UFO's the problem is remembering them. After velocity of light travel the ship's hull is like a neutron star.In close proximity to a UFO one could be flipped in to a dream state like consciousness because of the ship's mass.(a lot of time compressed into a small moment=id---on the moon the astronauts would be in id=hair standing)Who can even remember what they dreamt last night! It could be that NASA sees UFO's all the time but they don't remember.

Since the moon landing was a hoax in a TV studio, it could have been a prop from another TV show.
Or maybe Buzz was buzzed.
Or it could have been the ghost of Elvis. (Most people don't know that Elvis really died of an pverdose in the 50's and the one they used after that was an imposter).

I've heard something about what you are talking about but I don't think the media latched on to it because space was new and nobody knew what weird things were out there. Who knows maybe it was a cover up to prevent wide spread panic :)

Providing that the article is true, the government filters ther news. The Japanese attack the Northwest coast during WWII but the government also filtered that in order not to make the nation go to chaos

This is the first I've heard of it. Any other NASA astronauts seen anything on any of the other missions? I think Buzz was just kidding.

To be honest, when there is a war in the Middle East going on, the media is not concerned about UFOs.
