wow that is really scary. I went down to the dock one day with my family and the water is so dark there. Some guys were diving into it even though a sign is posted against doing such activity. I was scared just looking at the water, much less i could not imagine swimming in it. You are the only other person that I've ever heard mention this kind of fear. I thought I was the only one who felt like this. Have a good day!

I think because my first experiences swimming as a child were in a lake I have managed to not be concerned about what is swimming in there with me. I rarely swim in deep water in the ocean, howver I am more nervous because I know what could be lurking nearby, despite the low chance. I was in Australia for a month and didn't once go into the water, though, so I understand where you are coming from. I figured my chances of running into something nasty was higher in Australia than in Canada. I wonder if I swam in Loch Ness if I would be nervous about Nessie. Champ in Lake Champlain didn't make me pause last weekend.

I always have a fear of water-not the liquid part but what is or could be in the water if I can't see to the bottom and all around. I just don't swim or take a bath(showers only).

WELL, DUDE.
i'm not scared of diving, but i can do it only a pool. in a lake there has to be someone beside me, or else i'll just freak out. with swimming, same thing. i'm not scared of a pool, but totally freaked out by the lakes. i've never been to the ocean so, i donno how it feels in there.
i guess in an open ocean there r sharks, but close to the beaches, just shells...

i am.......i like when at the pool they let you swm in the deep end if no one is there. i climb down the ladder and check. at this one pool i used to thinki had problems because i heardd ticking. i scavenged the bottom and found eleven watches, waterproof. but yeah i climbed down the ladder at this other pool and then needed some air. i was coming up and all these people were floating on their backs right above me and i tried moving and another dove. i got up luckily because the people were kids and they evacuated for adult swim!!

I haven't been in a lake, beach or pond in over 20 years. Just the thought of my feet touching the bottom of the unknown makes me freak out.

just thinking about an ocean or big lake freaks me out. i don't know why, cuz i've been in both before. just the idea that you are just one tiny person in a HUGE body of water makes me feel powerless and scared.

I do. I don't like any kind of water that I can't see the bottomof unless it is a pool. which I can usually see the bottm. Lakes and the ocean are a no no for me.

I don't swim anyplace where I can't see the bottom. Even swimming pools. There's probably dead bodies down there.
