why female homosexuality is accepted more than male homosexuality?

this is so stupid to me,why is it ok for women to be bi or gay but when men are,people act all wierd,its still same sex on same sex,no matter man or woman?i personally have no prob with either im a healthy bisexual,i personally believe its everyones perverted side when they think of gay/bi women on women.i would love to hear thoughts and please if you must bring god into this (sighs) well ok.but who else sees my point?i mean gay is gay right?and bi is bi?

I am also a bi female, and I think it is stupid too, but there is an explanation. I truly think it is because of the societal views and expectations of the inherent natures of men and women.

I know some fairly emotional men and some very unemotional women. Regardless of societal limitations, however, women by nature are more nurturing and emotional than men, AS A WHOLE. We are the mothers, we give our bodies over to the creation and nourishment of our children. We are wired by biology to be more nurturing.

Seeing two women together is more socially acceptable because there is an unconscious undercurrent that they are together, giving each other the emotional support and "sisterhood" that we can't usually get from men.

Men are, very unfairly, not viewed as emotional creatures, so it is a common belief that gay men are together for the sex and nothing else.

Another part of this reason, is that society raises our young men to be drastically more homophobic than women. Women are taught that it is not only okay, but EXPECTED that we turn to other women to help us with our emotional and relationship issues. We can hug, kiss, and hold onto each other in times of crisis, without having our sexuality questioned, even once.

Men, on the other hand, are taught to internalize emotions and that it is strictly taboo to discuss relationships with other men. Society teaches men that any tenderness, physical friendship, or emotional closeness between two men is not Manly, and therefore should be avoided at all costs.

I can't honestly believe that in this day and age, this is still an issue. I know it is going to take a lot of work. I am raising a son on my own. He is almost 9 and a terrific kid. He is sensitive and caring and well-balanced. A couple years ago for Christmas he asked for a Hot Wheels race track and a Polly Pocket pool set. *grin*

It may take a few more generations, but I like to think that some day, sexual preference will no longer be an issue. It is a Civil Rights fight, just like race and gender.

I think it's because many guys don't think the woman on woman action is not so bad and that is half of the population so the opther half has probably had woman on woman contact before. Most non gay woman I've talked with said the best kiss they've ever gotten was from a girl. It's somehow not hard to relate when it's something they have already enjoyed. Atleast that's how I see it but I'm lesbian and not always accepted. Small town life is not easy let me tell you that!

It seems to be more accepting to see 2 women together than for 2 men to be together.... and I don't know why. I have asked the same thing and I have been told I was discriminating against gay/bi men and I wasn't.

I think alot of it falls back to the nature of women in general, even heterosexual. A man's machismo prevents even a heteosexual male from being physically affectionate with another male while women are generally very affectionate and loving with each other whether or not they are gay.
It also goes very far back in time. Men had the control so, if a women engaged in activity with other women, she was still likely going to be expected to be with men. If a men were with other men and turned away from women, it could be threat to a tribe, a race or even humankind. From these times many thoughts are still ingrained in our psyche.

I totally agree with you - I am also bi and am not bothered or even think about men who are gay or bi.......

But, I dont know any women (straight or not) who have a problem with gay men.... From what I have seen it is mostly the straight men that have a problem and I always thought it was their own insecurities that they worried about.

I think that most people don't have issues with discreet Lesbians because they can view it like "sisters." Many men also think that 2 women together are a fantasy. Anything other than that is viewed in many different ways. Unfortuately, we live in a world where people are judged by stupid standards instead of who they truly are.

Women are not really having sex together, they are playing around until a man penetrates them. Humpf..... Did you know that the Hebrew word for penis is the same word for gun and weapon? People cant help what grosses them out. I mean, I'm all in favor of things like gay marriage, even for 2 guys, but society is always going to like woman-woman better because it doesnt gross people out.
