I would go to the get together where my peers will be and people I am familiar with. I do not condone drinking yourself drunk, but if you were going to go out and drink you should definately not be drinking around people that you don't know, and if your only have one friend at this get together, which I assume will be drinking too, that friend will not be alert enough to watch your back if something goes wrong. So the advice is go to the get together where people you know will be, it is a lot safer
and I am sure you will have a better time. Have fun.

i would definately hang out with the people i know. besides, i'm pretty shy around people i don't know and i don't want to get drunk. i know i'd have a huge guilt trip later.

I'd go with your friends. If you are going to drink, just have a couple. You don't need to drink to drunkeness to have a good time. Please don't drive.
