My vehicle specs are; Regular Cherokee, Country, 4.0 litre 6 cyl inline, 4 door, 4WD and I have ABS. Several mechanics have quoted me the following repair costs for the front CV joints. $700. $600 $400. & $300. I can buy the parts for about $60. What is a reasonable cost to do this repair job? Also, what is the danger of not immediately attending to this repair? Thanks.

This vehicle is only worth about 3-400 bucks. Too many miles on it. I would ask around to find a Mechanic that can do this out of his garage as a 'side job' instead of taking it to a shop. To properly repair this it should cost 4-500 at a garage. It is probably time to say goodbye to this vehicle...sell it for a few hundred, add in the repair money and go buy another one with alot less miles on it. Good Luck!

The cv joint's on my 1995 4 liter inline 6 cyl ltd cherokee 4 wd petrol+ lpg (gas) when last year and i fixed it myself £38,95 each so $60 dollar's is very reasonable, and buy 2 new one's because the old cv joint's on your car are not serviceable,Because they
sealed unit's,so take your time and fix it youself, it will save you a lot of dollar's good luck

Danger is not bad... unless the CV joint goes. You need to repace this right away. I paid $500 when they did mine. They don't usually replace or fix old CV joints they just replace the entire axle.
