I've been having contractions, cramps, back aches, pressure, burning, mucous discharge, etc. for 32 hours now. But it hasn't been consistent or timeable, it can be anywhere from 6 minutes to an hour or two apart. I really don't want to go to labor and delivery and be sent back home...it's too much of a pain to get a babysitter and go all the way there. Is there a certain amount of time that's bad for you or the baby to go through this? Besides that, would the doctor do anything besides send me home and make me wait if I went in? Is it possible to go through most of your labor like this and not know it? I'm overdue and planned for an induction anytime after Wednesday. And I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Women can labour like this for days at home (i laboured every night for a week until my water broke)
Your body is getting ready for the labour and it can really be anytime now, especially if this is not your first. But considering the closest your contractions are 6 minutes you still have a little bit to go.
By all means call your L&D and see what they think, you might just want to come in so they can take a listen to the baby's heartbeat and monitor your contractions and probably do a vag exam, if you are already dilated the doctor may just break your water and get you on your way!
Good luck!

This same thing kept happening to my sister and she would go in and then they would send her home. They told her not to come in untill your water broke, bleeding, or if you contractions have been constant and regular for more than an hour. After going in a few times for this her water finally broke but I'm not a doctor but you should be OK. Good luck and I bless both you and your baby are healthy and do great the next few days.

Don't stress about it, it will only make it worse but no it's not dangerous. Unless the contractions even out or your water breaks or you have bloody discharge just wait until tomorrow to see the dr. If you go in they will probably just send you home. I had so many false contractions with my kids it was ridiculous. Try and relax and they should go away. Maybe a nice warm shower.

As long as your water hasn't broken there is no risk to you or the baby. Until your contractions are at most 4 minutes apart consistently and you have begun to dilate they will send you back home. But if your water breaks it is best to go to the hospital as soon as possible as there is risk of infection for the baby.

Best of luck!

If you are already overdue and are having these many labor symptoms, try having sex. Semen ripens the cervix and orgasm can bring on contractions. It might be enough to kick you into labor.

At your appointment tomorrow, ask your caregiver to strip your membranes. (Feels like a rough vaginal exam.) Then come home and have sex. This will irritate the cervix and then the hormones from orgasm again can help bring on contractions.

You could also try going for a walk to help bring baby down into your pelvis more to put more pressure on your cervix.

Best to call your doctor. I had the same labor for over 25 days. It would build up to about 2 minutes & go back to 2 hours. My husband says if your head is not spinning you are okay. BUT, I did have a friend who had no labor pains at all just mucuos discharge. So call your doctor - he may want to move his timetable up.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT NOW!!! It is very possible that you are in labor. Your doctor may be able to give you advice over the phone. But if you are in doubt, PLEASE go to the hospital. I know it is a pain to get a babysitter, but you REALLY dont want to have this baby at home, especially if you don't have anyone there to help!

Braxton-Hicks are early, yet no longer hard artwork contractions. think of of them as an orchestra warming up for the super overall performance. hard artwork contractions are plenty extra coordinated, and could take your breath away. those form of BH could be brought about via being up on your ft too long. they are efficient!!! try stepping right into a heat tub for no less than 30 minutes. Your discharge is standard, and is basically lubricating the way for the start. a undesirable smell is reason for situation, yet in any different case, basically get some pantiliners. carry in there!

Yes, it is possible that you are in labour. If you are not too sure and don't want to waste your time etc, call the midwife or doctor and tell them exaactly what is happening to you. They will let you know if you need to go in or not. don't worry about wasting their time, that is what they are there for. Don't feel bad if its a false alarm, they are used to it, I expect most mums to be make mistakes like that.
you are overdue, it is worth a phone call.
Good luck...
