By "beat", I hope you are referring to the entire score.

Once you have a complete manuscript, you need to cut a CD for a demo, accompanied by the sheet music and lyrics and mailed to the copyright office in Washington.
Home demos are acceptable but bear in mind that you will be competing to some degree of professional demos.

The form can be printed from the Copyright office web site.
www.copyright.gov

Print form PA (performing arts)
The fee is presently $30.00. If diff. they will inform you.

You will not be in direct contact with an artist, unless you personally know one.

You will be working with a publisher. If they judge your music to be worthy, they will present it to the artists most suited for the genre.

The publisher will most likely receive the the largest percentage of royalties. Not always.
Royalties are preset to a degree, but may be negotiable. Legal aid may be needed.

You can garner some information from The National Songwriters Association. They have a web site. You can join free, and receive weekly news emails. You will not have access to all their services until you join. The dues are $9.95 quarterly.
Membership is attained by invitation, when an opening arises.

This may be the best legitimate source. They can answer all your concerns.

Good luck.
To me too.
