if you must keep it first you need to know if it's a frog or a toad...there is a difference...and like different type of environment...if you don't know yourself you probably shouldn't keep it....if you still want too than take it to a reptile pet shop and they will tell you everything you need to know

Get a 10 gallon aquarium, get some moss and put it at the bottom of the aquarium. You'll need an empty spray bottle, make sure that there was never any chemicals inside of it. Go to the dollar store and get one if you must. Go to the pet store and get some crickets, mealworms, kingworms, waxworms, silkworms. Put some fake plants in it (you can get them at the pet store) or if you want real ones, go online and find out which ones would be safe around the frog. Make sure you have a cover because they will jump. Get a small reptile bowl and put warm (room temperature) water in it so they can soak in it. Please make sure that if you or your kids pick up the frog that they wet their hands first. If you do not wet your hands you are removing natural oils from your frog that keeps him healthy. do not do this. Put him a room that may not have as much traffic in it. don't put him by the window, he'll overheat/ freeze (during winter). Don't put him by the heater either during the winter. with the spray bottle, fill it with warm water, perhaps hot but not to the touch, because when you spray the frog's environment, the water cannot be cold because he will catch a cold. Spray more frequently on hot, humid days.

frogs have smooth slimy skin. toads have bumpy skin. they don't give you wart's. they see movement i think because they eat live bugs not dead ones and they are mostly night time creatures. if it is a frog keep about half water and half land (small rocks or something for it to sit on). and if it is a toad it needs moister in the tank too. you find more toads after a rain than on the dryer nights. and the will eat anything small enough to eat and has to be alive. wood ants, grasshoppers, roaches, and crickets.

For the frog to live in captivity you'll have to purchase a lot of things. Special lighting a large enclosure a place for the frog to get out of the water and bask. a very good water filter and probably a water heater for the tank. They also need a special diet depending on what kind of frog it is. Everything needs to be perfect in the enclosure It can get expensive. My advice is to let the frog go where your kids found it. It's better for the frog and for your wallet.

If it is brown and bumpy, it is a tode. Frogs can be brown, too but they will be smooth. I suggest that you let the creature go and get a pet from a pet store.
When people try to keep critters that they catch, the animal usually ends up unhappy and will sometimes starve itself. You might not even be able to tell if the critter is unhappy if you are not an animal expert.
When members of my family catch critters, we keep them for a few houres and then let them go where we found them.

You need a 10 gallon tank with some light. Get some crickets and other insects for it. Keep its enviroment like the outdoors. I t needs dry land and water bowl. Or you can put it back in the wild so it won't die.

I would purchase a $10 ten gallon aquarium and lid. Some clean potting soil makes a good substrate. Buy a shallow water dish and some fake foilage. They eat crickets (they come in different sizes) from the pet store.

it would be happier in it's natural environment; but if you really wish to keep it, talk to a vet, or a local pet shop to find out the type of frog it is, as different frogs need different care. The following link may help as well : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog
