Njretard your name fits you well becuase hockey is the best sport ever and takes the most talent.
My Favorite player of all-time is Pat LaFontaine. You can't say enough about the guy. Amazing player with so much heart and was a phenominal leader on and off the ice. Started the Pat Lafontaine companions in courage foundation and when he had his jersey retired this past season against Toronto it was so emotional (yes i was there) and he brought out kids from the foundation to celebrate this honor with him. I also went to his hockey camp when i was a kid and he was one of the nicest people i met and just fun to be around. The city of Buffalo loved him and so did all his teammates and coaches. Did i mention he is American (nothing against Canadian or other foreign players). Simply put: Great player, Great guy

Remember, these are my favorites......I have two:
1) Mario Lemieux....he saved hockey in Pittsburgh by purchasing the team, after he led the Pens to two Stanley Cups, coming back from his back problems and cancer...and he has been the force behind the Mario Lemieux Foundation (which works with children suffering from cancer). He truly is someone who has affected the lives of many individuals (not just hockey fans) in many different ways.
2) Mike Eruzione....as an American, he scored the goal that defeated the Russians in the 1980 Olympics. I met him years later at a golf tournament, and he was a very approachable, down-to-earth human being.

Bobby Hull. He defined Hockey!!! Intense, rugged, master if the slap shot...the "Golden Jet" was to ice hockey what Mantle was to baseball, Unitas to football. He was the greatest left-winger, with the HEAVIEST shot, to ever play. The first guy to score 50 goals. The father of hall of famer Bret. Lemieux was the greatest. Period! Hull, my favorite!!!!!

Bobby Orr because he was a God to people my age. Guy changed the way defensemen played the game, led league in scoring twice as a defenseman!, controlled the PK like you would not believe ragging the puck up and down the ice playing keepaway, skated like the wind, hit, fought, blocked shots and all this on bad knees.

Joe nieuwendyk and here's why...
Once when I was younger I went to Chicago for a hockey tournament and we went to see a Chicago blackhawks game. They were playing the Dallas stars at the time when they had Joe nieuwendyk. Being in Chicago, I was one of the only people with a stars jersey on at the arena. As the players were doing their pre-game warm-up session, I went down to the glass where the stars were skating. I stood there for a few minutes, watching in awe as the skates flashed across the ice with great ease. Suddenly I noticed Joe turn his head towards the isle where I was standing. He scanned the kids there (this did happen when I was younger) and saw me, the only person in the group of about 20 or 25 kids near the glass with a stars jersey on. He then skated over, flipped a used practice puck over the boards to me, and skated off.
I have remember that moment since it happened vividly and still succeeds and warming my heart with gratitude.

Eric Staal, oh and that is how u spell his name, not stall.
And cary l quit whining about Koivu getting hit in the face with Justin Williams stick. It was an A.C.C.I.D.E.N.T. In just about every answer u give to these questions i read if justin williams didnt high stick koivu, carolina wouldnt have even made it to the next round. The only way carolina wouldnt have made it to the next round is if cory stillman didnt score that winning goal. So get over. There is a new season coming.

i have three fave players tied for my alltime fave player: 1. steve y- he helped turn around the red wings when they were the dead wings back in the 80s'. he helped lead them to three stanley cups in five years. he had the longest captaincy in the nhl at 22 years. he could motivate the wings with few words and lots of action. stevie y also is a great down to earth guy off-ice.
2. gordie howe: he was a tough cookie. he could score goals and fight. he has a phrase coined for him: the gordie howe hat trick. which is a fight, a goal and an assist. he lead the wings to five stanley cups.
3. bobby orr- one of the best defenseman ever to play hockey. he was great to watch in the 1970s. he had a great hard shot. he could score some big goals. boston was lucky to have him.

well for me it would have to be Wayne Gretzky he is the leading scorer of all time in NHL, he has over 60 record that no one will probably will not beat for a while
He is the only player in NHL history to over 2000 points and over 1000 career goals
IF it was not for Wayne Gretzky being traded to Los angerles Kings I don't think the teams like San Jose,Anaheim,Tamby bay,Florida would be in the NHL today so he made the game grow to unbelievable level

Mark Messier. As a Rangers fan, I was sad to see him go at the end of the '03-'04 season. He was a great leader and also a great hockey player.
