Here is the other part - I know him as a friend of a friend, but he is a goo person and I want to do what I can. Is that creepy? ;) I just feel like it is the right thing to do, but I don't want him to be like - who does this person think she is?

when he gets home ask him if he needs help with anything. if he he doesnt just visit him every now and then but not too much. ask him if he needs help with groceries or something like that. a visit really makes a person feel better.

You are a good samaritan and there ought to be more people like you in this world...very caring and considerate...
Perhaps dropping by with offerings of a fave dish cooked could perk up his day! That way you could strike up a conversation and ask him if he needs help of any kind. If not, then you get the message. He might thank you someday!
