By far the bloodiest war in history was World War 2. The military deaths and casualties are dwarfed by the civilian toll from the war. An estimated 10-30 million Russians died, not to mention the Holocaust and the soldiers of the respective nations.
World War 1 was probably the most traumatic for the world, but not the bloodiest. The United States Civil War and localized conflicts like VietNam or Korea can not begin to draw comparisons.

It was WITHOUT a doubt WW2. No other war is even close. The medieval wars people are citing, though the lasted long, didn't claim many lives. (Cities then were occupied by thousands, not millions.)
Many people say the American civil war. That is probably born out of the fact that it was the bloodiest war for the United States. (Claimed the most American lives.)
WWI WAS the highest death toll (around 1 million) until WWII. The Battle of Stalingrad (World War Two's bloodiest battle) claimed more lives than ANY other war in history. (Two million) Just a BATTLE. The entire war claimed upwards of 50 million lives. Anyone who disagrees might want to do a quick search to check their facts.

Man for man World War One was the bloodiest on record with extremely high death rates due to technology vs out of date tactics, infection and disease. Not to mention the bloodiest single battles in world history occured during WWI. The US Civil War would be a close second.
World War II, while having the highest total death count, did not have the highest total death rate. A soldier in WWII had a much higher probability of surviving one typical month of combat compared to WWI or the US Civil War.

In terms of people killed WW2 was the bloodiest war,
with 56 million deaths, nothing can match it.
Although that could only have happened with the size of the population, and the new technology
I think the bloodiest war in terms of deaths, cruelty, how pointless the war was etc. was the 30 years war, a war that took place in Germanic states in the 1500s, it was extremely brutal and bloody

all in all, counting civilian deaths, mi.itary deaths, deaths as a result of dislocation/starvation/imprisonment, WWII is the bloodiest war ever. Over 100million people died as a result of this war. WWI is the second bloodiest and then one can look at a number of other wars as a close third.
Have a nice day.

I think World War 2 was the bloodiest, not so much for actually combatants killed, but for total deaths including civilians and the attempted Genocides in Germany and Russia. I think as far as actually combatants are concerned it would have to be the American Civil War, in some battles 1000s were killed in a matter of minutes and most battles would have 30-40% fatality rate. 2 died from disease or infection for every 1 actually killed in battle

None of the WW's is the most bloddiest in history. The bloodiest wars fought are those wars that are fought with melee weapons and linear warfare. Usually, when invaders siege a country, it would take them 10 years or more to overpower the current governmnet. These wars are brutal than any modern blood bath. An example would be Alexander the great's campaign. Creation of Roman Empire, and other medieval battles

I think it was WWII, in global numbers (the Civil War had the most casualties in the USA; but compared to global wars, the Civil War was tiny, it's ridiculous to claim it as the most bloody).
There were terrible and bloody battles in WWI, too, but WWII was aimed a lot at the civil population too (think Holocaust, as well as Stalin's ruthlessness). Terrible :(
