I am only forwarding this e-mail of a gay man from Lebanon:
Dear Readers,
I take the liberty in writing to you reaching out to your kind hearts, to human kind and the humanity that was blessed in you, sharing my feelings about the unmerited bleeding and dying innocent people by the Israelis repetitive violations of the human rights. But this time, these Lebanese refuse to abandon their rights and believes and fight back for once and all to get all rights due.
I am a young Lebanese guy living in Beirut, a university student, majoring in archeology & history of arts.
With great modesty I must say that I care so much for my country as I am sure many of you do, so I finished by creating a website (www.lebtour.com), in order to give the chance for all the tourists eager to visit Lebanon to get all the information needed for a pleasurable stay.
In the name of all the Lebanese, I am sending you this message of Love and Peace.
An undersized thought for all those who passed away during the past three weeks due to Barbaric Israeli attacks, for all those children whose their youthful lives have been slaughtered before having the chance to enjoy the full beauty of their own country.
The Israeli raids are multiplying day by day disregarding the world’s war rules and ethics of respecting the civilians’ lives and humanity and certainly implementing the wish of their history leaders. Below are few quotes of Israelis leader’s wishes and directions:
“We must expel Arabs and take their places." David Ben Gurion, Prime Minister of Israel, 1937, Oxford University Press, 1985
"We should prepare to go over to the offensive. Our aim is to smash Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, and Syria. The weak point is Lebanon, for the Moslem regime is artificial and easy for us to undermine. We shall establish a Christian state there, and then we will smash the Arab Legion, eliminate Trans-Jordan; Syria will fall to us. We then bomb and move on and take Port Said, Alexandria and Sinai." David Ben-Gurion, May 1948, to the General Staff. From Ben-Gurion, A Biography, by Michael Ben-Zohar, Delacorte, New York 1978.
"We shall reduce the Arab population to a community of woodcutters and waiters" Uri Lubrani, PM Ben-Gurion's special adviser on Arab Affairs, 1960. From "The Arabs in Israel" by Sabri Jiryas.
"Zionist colonization must either be terminated or carried out against the wishes of the native population. This colonization can, therefore, be continued and make progress only under the protection of a power independent of the native population - an iron wall, which will be in a position to resist the pressure to the native population. This is our policy towards the Arabs..." Vladimir Jabotinsky, The Iron Wall, 1923.
"We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population."Israel Koenig, "The Koenig Memorandum"
Do that mean Lebanon and other Arab countries have to pay the price in order for the Israelis to achieve their objectives and justify their existence?
This is not the first time Lebanon has suffered for the greed of the neighboring countries. On this present occurrence, more than 750 died until today, where 40% are children. And more then 800 thousands are now stranded homeless, not to mention the massive Lebanese areas that have been simply bombed and demolished from the existence. This Israeli attacks on Lebanon as way passed any sense of war and humanity like no other war has done.
What saddens me most is that in spite the ever increasing loss of innocent lives, day by day, we see no effective action from the international community. What happened to those promises from Lebanon’s allies and neighboring Arab countries? Don’t they ever think that they could be next?
I don’t intend to report what all what the media can do. My hope is to simply plead with each one of you for a response, to help, and show your solidarity. I am sure that most of you, are neither happy with nor silent against this barbarian attack, but we need to shout louder and make our views and feelings felt to the world to make it happen.
I only hope that my letter will encourage you and support you to come forward and be counted.
My Lebanon is a Free Lebanon, Alive and Peaceful
My Lebanon is a Young and Hopeful Lebanon
My Lebanon is the Lebanon of Feyrouz & Gibran
My Lebanon is the Lebanon of the Cedars and Baalbeck
My Lebanon is the sandy Shores, green Mountains and blue Rivers.
My Lebanon is the Cosmopolitan Lebanon welcoming all alike.
My Lebanon is a Paradise, a peace of Heaven fallen on Earth who every one visited fell in love with.
In the Name the Liberty,
In the name of Equality,
In the name of Brotherhood,
Do something to stop these massacres, Stop those who want to slay the dreams of all the young Lebanese and the reminiscence of the old.
Finally, before going back to the underground or shelters, dodging the bombs, or even berried alive, I want you to put our hands and hearts together and fight for our country Lebanon.
Please, please act now before it is too late.
God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Bertho Makso
