A "bug" in computer terms is a flaw in the software that causes unexpected behavior. The term had been used before that to describe flaws in other types of machines. The Wikipedia article on software bugs quotes Thomas Edison in 1878 using the term "bugs" to mean " little faults and difficulties" in his inventions.
A famous computer "bug" was found by technicians working at Harvard just after WWII - they found a moth had jammed a relay in their electro-mechanical computer and taped it onto the logbook with the note "First actual case of bug being found".

To pin point the incident, there was a glitch in an earlier computer machine--it was a mechanical problem. The techs soon found a dead moth in the works which was keeping the early computer from functioning. Hence, 'bug.'

It's when something like spy ware or a virus or something causes your computer to act in a slower way or to do things without you doing it and messing up files or freezing the computer alot. They called it a bug or virus because it wasn't operating it's normal way and sometimes depending on what it has it can affect other computers that have contact through email and that.
