OH MY GOSH! Do not feed your baby in the bathroom. You would not eat your meals in the bathroom would you. So WHY in the world would you make your baby nurse (it is there meal) in the bathroom. HOW DISGUSTING!

I have nurse all 4 of my children. And I am currently still nursing my baby (although sadly only a couple of times a day). Once right before nap time and once before bedtime. He just turned 2.

Nursing is a NATURAL thing. And I have nursed in public, I have even nursed during church services. When my babies were younger carried blankets with me. And when they needed to nurse flung the blanket over my shoulder and the babies head, I could still see my baby nursing and yet it gave me privacy.

I don't know why some people are so horrified by women nursing there babies.

If they don't like they shouldn't look.

Usually (and I am sure you are one of those mothers) nursing mothers do take measures to make sure that they are not being lude. And take measure to cover up and make everyone feel comfortable. I know I did and I am sure you do to.

Just please don't take that one posters advice and nurse in the bathroom.

It is there problem that they have a problem with nursing mother's not yours. Don't be ashamed of breastfeeding.
It is natural and very healthy!

Take a look at www.babymilkaction.org who are very much in favour of breastfeeding and publish a stunning calendar showing what a beautiful sight it is.

They are in favour of breastfeeding because 4000 babies a day die from unsafe bottle feeding. This horrific figure comes from the United Nations World Health Organisation.(WHO). It happens mainly in Third World countries where the water is unsafe.

In these countries companies like Nestle aggressively market baby milk formula giving mothers the impression it is better than breastfeeding. Often they cannot read the instructions or they are printed in a different language. Nestle keep claiming they are abiding by the WHO code of practice but violations are reported constantly from all over the world.

I don't know how these people can live with themselves when they know they are causing the deaths of so many babies.

There is an ongoing boycott of all Nestle products mainly Nescafe but also many sweets. The company is also being boycotted by animal lovers for cruel and unecessary animal testing.

I breastfed all the time in public because when baby is hungry, she's hungry. Some people stared but most people didn't. People who make you feel uncomfortable for doing something so natural are ****.

If you do feel self-concious then use one of your muslins to drape over your shoulder to cover up. You can tuck it a corner under your bra strap to make it more secure.

Have you made contact with your local Breast Mates group? They're a network of breast feeding mums who get together to make friends and discuss breast feeding issues. You'll find that you'll be a lot less self-concious when there's a group of you all breast feeding at the same time! The NHS breastfeeding website has lots of great links to local support / mother and baby groups.

I agree it is a shame, the fact there aren't many breastfeeding mums means the situation perpetuates. Some recent press articles suggest women who have friends and contacts that breastfeed are more likely to do the same, so if less do it, less again follow though.

I think it is probably easiest if purpose clothing is worn so one can be subtle and ward off the curious + peeping tom type glances. Breasts being seen as having a sexual function aside from feeding baby, means to some it is taboo to have any flash of breast in public (however subtle)

Well done you though, keep it up, it is so good for your baby to get a best start in life

i'm one hundred% FOR prolonged breastfeeding, or ANY breastfeeding for that remember! some is greater advantageous than none, and prolonged to enable the baby self wean is often suitable if attainable. I completely consider you in this comprehensive push for "independence" at such an early age. this is ridiculous. My kiddos are 17 yrs and 12 yrs, they nursed till they have been 2 and a a million/2 and 3 and a a million/2, the two at the instant are very mature and self sufficient. As remember of actuality, each and every so often I desire they weren't extremely so self sufficient! Independence is taught over the years. the suitable thank you to motivate them to be self sufficient is to fulfill ALL their desires while they are small and helpless. If cave human beings had parented the way an mind-blowing form of the individuals on YA do, the human race could have become extinct years in the past through fact each and all of the greater youthful could have the two frozen to dying, starved to dying, or been eaten by predators.

i think that whilst the UK has one of the highest proportions of breast fed babies in the west, the Brits are generally quite prudish when it comes to seeing bodily functions in public and unfortunately this falls into that catagory.
in france men insist their women breast feed at the beginning because women generally don't want to, and hospitals try to convert you to the bottle (in my experience), but when it comes to feeding in public, no one minds.

have muslin cloth over your shoulder covering the baby's head so that it is more dicreet and otherwise ignore the looks, be proud. also, if i was with people, i would ask them if they minded me doing it in front of them.... by asking, it makes people feel more comfortable about what you are doing and it is rare that someone will say that they would mind.
it is an amazing thing that we can do this and lasts for such a short while that it is more important that you enjoy it than worry about what other people think.
good luck!

a lot of people here in the UK are uptight about it because breasts have been sexualised. I'm currently breastfeeding my 3 month old and when i tell people i want to continue until he's 2 years old as recommended by the world health org they look at me as if I'm crazy! my partner doesn't even understand it. I'm really discreet and with the help of a great baby-sling i have even managed to breastfeed whilst walking up the street without anyone even noticing. my only conciliation is that i know I'm doing the best i can for my son.

It is disgraceful really that you have people giving you funny looks when all you are doing is feeding a human being the way nature intended. You don't give them funny looks when they are exposing their sandwich in public do you? It angers me really, they are quite happy buying the daily paper ogling over page 3, **** everywhere, that doesn't seem to be a problem, but breastfeeding is. Where is this world going...?

People are just pathetic. They see a breast and a sexual object, they dont seem to realise that you were given them to feed your child. I say whip it out and be proud, if u feel slightly exposed then use a blanket, but dont let people put you off. I sadly couldnt breast feed, no milk came in, as gutted, i think what you're doing is fab, so many people dont bother trying these days.x

I don't understand, as long as you are doing it tasteful then those people shouldn't be getting all bent out of shape.
Now if you have the baby swinging from your boob and exposing everything that is a little insane. But not much, I am mean it is a natural thing that is happening. People are so closed minded, they are okay with the "pop stars" being naked on the cover of magz with just their arms and legs barley covering up their parts, but when a mother is breastfeeding they get all bent of shape?? WTF.
People are stupid and don't have no sense.
When people stare at you just smile and wave. Then ask if they are going to take a picture to capture the moment.
Or ask if they want some peanuts.
