Ianmarkwebber- so sorry that your question hit the hornet's nest - and they're swarming about you, "we don't know the RX-8 mmmmmm...."
I know the vehicle - from the RX-01. Heard of it?
The RX-8 is the epitome of cool. If of course you know the meaning of cool - like cool is hand stitched calf hide Italian loafers; cool is an Aquascutum trench coat; cool is an early morning walk along Kapiolani Boulevard... Cool is the personal feeling of being with it and yet out of the crowd. The RX-8 gives you that. The shape grows on you. And you into the RX-8. The engine sings in a voice that is neither menacing nor boisterous. In fact the RX-8 has an accent - you can't say that about many cars.
Cool is when the in-crowd have nothing to say but oohs and ahhs...
If you want to measure the cool factor, watch the faces of the valets down at the club. Hot-rodding valets tremble when they receive the keys to RX-8's.
Nobody hammers an RX-8, they stroke it. Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, Corvette, RX-8... are all sports cars. But only the RX-8 can claim the title of country-club cool. Besides, that's the sort of class for whom it was made - those people who are so refined as to appreciate that cool is a personal concept.
My good man you couldn't find a cooler mode of transport than in the RX-8.

Apperance isn't bad, but performance-wise it isn't the pimple on the *** of a twin turbo RX-7. Go find a 93-96 R1 edition RX7 and go suck the headlights out of some Corvettes.

Hi Ian i have had my red RX8 for 2 years and im looking to sell it now i loved it for about 2months, now i think its a pile of crap the oil change every 5 minutes the flat battery very often the wheels have a terrible reputation for eruption of the coating oh i could go on ... it looks cool but i think a specialist car with a specialist engine comes with specialist problems BUT its been a learning curve..!!!!!!!!!!

I have one, it is by far the coolest car I have ever had or driven. It also has the distinction of being the most perfectly balanced sports car ever built. It does 0 to 60mph in 5.7sec. Ive had mine up to 147mph with room to go... go ..... go !!! The 300 watt 9 speaker Bose system kicks too.

looks cool, rotary engine is great, but it is the only car I have heard of where you have to check the oil every time you fill up.
