it's a fundraising thing to help me so that i can afford to go on this trip next summer. if you found a flyer on your door from someone asking for your cans (to make money), how would you expect it to look like? i'm not sure how to write it.

Dear Neighbor,

My name is ______ and I live at No. __________. I've recently become involved with _________ and plan to join this group for a trip. I hope that you'll help me support this effort by simply saving your cans. If you'll give me a call at _________, I'd be happy to pick up the cans at any time. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

__________

Since recycling cans is an environmental act as well as a way to make $, I would make sure that you make your fliers out of recycled, non-bleached paper. Also, if you are are asking for their help, make sure you make it as easy for them as possible by picking up cans at their place and working with their schedule. And finally, if there is a no solicitation sign on their front door you should honor that and not bother them.

My name is Bozo and I am starting a new service to help you keep the empty cans from filling your closet. All you need to do is give me a call at 555-1212 and I'll carry them off for you anytime.

I'd love this service!
