Incredibly! Can you even imagine a world where everyone accepted everyone? There would be no war, no fights, no discrimination. And to people like you and I...it seems like such a simple thing to do?! I'll never understand why some people can't be decent human beings.

Yes, it would.
Everybody has a degree of ignorance because we were all raised by people who have some degree of ignorance. If we hack away at our own ignorance, though, we will find our understanding of ourselves, other people, and the world increasing.
As we reduce our ignorance, acceptance takes its place. So does tolerance, to a degree. When you understand people, you are more tolerant of their differing beliefs and views because you know that your relationship with them is more important than any differences you have. You also understand why they hold on to their cherished opinions (the reason is always fear), and you accept this as the way things are--for now.
That doesn't mean you tolerate everything they do, though. Face it--some people are just about intolerable! People with understanding limit their contact with these people. This can help those people to examine themselves and change their own misunderstanding (ignorance) so that they become better, too. Nobody likes to be ignored.
One important thing--you can change your own ignorance, but you can't "hack away" at someone else's. That's their job! All you can do is help, when you reach a level of understanding that allows you to help.
When anyone reduces their level of ignorance, this means that their children will grow up with less ignorance, too, and the world becomes a little better for the next generation.

Yes. A lot of time / energy / money / natural resources / human feeling / ... are lost to fight the ignorance and intolerance (allways going together) or to protect oneself against it or simply just destroyed by it. A better use for that would be easily found.

One, it would never happen, and two, if for some whacked out reason it did, humanity would just find another problem to worry about instead.

No. There will always be (PEOPLE) finding something else to make up for the tolerance, acceptance, etc.......After all, (PEOPLE) always find stuff to gripe about.
