Give the mother as much food and water as she wants. Keep her cage in a quiet corner and maybe even place a sheet over it. Giver her fresh food and water daily.. DO NOT CHECK ON THE BABIES until they are at least a week old. Do not change the cage litter for at least a week. She will take care of them if you leave her alone but may kill them if she feels threatened. If it is her first litter, she may neglect or kill them anyway. She is probably pregnant again, so make sure she has lots of food. Female hamsters enter estrus (heat) immediately upon the birth of a litter.

Make sure mom has vitamins in her water, also do research on caring for a hamster with babies...get a separate cage for the male...that will solve the watering problem, and prevent any more "accidents"...also, give the babies away when they are old enough...males and females will mate even if they are related.

Check out http://www.petwebsite.com. I'm not sure what type of hamster you have, but if they are Syrians (or "teddy bear" as they are often called), the adults shouldn't be housed together to begin with. You will need to purchase a cage for your male. Is this a planned litter? I'm hoping you have homes lined up for these babies since you obviously intentionally kept the male and female together...

what type of hamsters u have? many people saying that male hamsters will eat babies hamster. but for dwarf hamster, daddy will babysit the babies for mother hamster. my hamster even help to keep babies warm under his belly, as the mother hamster couldn't take care too many babies. but other male (not the babies father) or other female (no the babies mother) shall be removed.
for the mother, make sure she got protein rich diet. give her bread soaked in milk, boiled egg white etc. do not touch or disturb the mother and babies for at least 1-2 week. the mother may look like 'misplace' the babies everywhere, but don't worry, she will take care of them. put them in a quiet and dark place.
2 weeks later, u will bave a bunch of healthy baby hamsters running around!!! after their fur started to grow, and when u hold them in your hand, u will feel amazingly great and proud of yourself!!!

First off, seperate the males and females in seperate cages (if they are old enoguh to eat solid food) you don't want more. Then, bring the babies to a local PetsMart or other animal retailer and see if they will take them. If not, put up ads in Newspapers and other sites. You will be bound to find them loving homes in no time

Whatever you do, DON'T DISTURB THE BABIES! It may cause the mother to eat them. Here's a good site to help you.... you shouldn't really have to do anything as the mother should look after them until they're older.
PS - when they're older you can either sell them or give them away by using the classifieds.

Keep the males and females apart, and feed them and water them normally. If the mum eats them, there's not a lot you can do, I'm afraid.
