It is a control and anger issue, which is often guided by culture.

This is the cultural norm. We think, "Oh, this is wrong. We should do something about it." and write laws making it illegal. That does nothing to change the cultural norm or help the men and women that are hurt by it. It only fills prisons.

I think that even if it was a cultural issue...it's now time to move away from it and evolve.
