I really, really wish he could - because he's totally my favorite character and, I think, one of the more interesting in the entire series. I like to think he will - after all, JK Rowling said that no one who was dead would return, but Sirius isn't really dead, is he? He's behind that silly veil, which is SUCH a stupid way to die.

If he doesn't return bodily, I AM sure he'll return in some form. Everything JK Rowling does is for a reason and I really don't think she would have killed him in such an abstract way if there wasn't some reason. Either he will somehow return as a ghost, or will be able to communicate through the veil, or, most likely, I think, will communicate with Harry through the mirrors he gave to him before he 'died'. Even though they didn't work right after Sirius died, JK Rowling has said that they will play an important part in the seventh book - and what's more important than talking to Sirius? :D

JK Rowling has also said that the last book will explain why some dead people become ghosts and some don't - possibly in relation to Sirius?

Technically Sirius is dead, and in fact, JK has stated that he is dead. As stated by JK Rowling during the BBC Paxman interview, 2003, Sirius Black is "definitely dead" [1], though some readers wonder about this because of a mirror Sirius left his godchild with a note saying that if Harry ever needed him he was to use the mirror. JK Rowling has further created intrigue by stating that "The mirror might not have helped as much as you think, but on the other hand, will help more than you think. You’ll have to read the final book[s] to understand that!" Therefore, wouldn't it be difficult for him to "come back"? So no, I don't think that Sirius will come back from the dead in the seventh book...regardless of how many of us we he would.

Sirius Black died in one of the books. Unless Ms. Rowling has a ghost of Sirius come to help Harry, I doubt he'll show up.

I highly doubt it, but Harry still has the two-way mirror and although it didn't work right after Sirius died, it's a possibility that he could make a "reappearance" that way.

Probably not, from the scuttlebutt, we're losing 2 more major characters in the last book, although they have yet to be named. I myself am sure it will be Harry and Voldemort. Linked by the spell that killed his parents, V put some of himself accidentally into Harry. He's been trying to reclaim it ever since. Harry will realize the only way to permanently end the threat of V., is to kill himself AND V.

i hope so too. we don't know where he went after bellatrix attacked him. maybe he's still alive. also if dumbledore knew what draco was up to( he assigned snape the task of keeping an eye on draco) he would most probably have known what was going the night draco tried to kill him or he wouldn't have put a spell on harry rendering him helpless. jk rowling has a lot of explaining to do in the seventh book

I highly doubt it. The author has repeatedly said that when a character is dead, that's it ... he/she is dead and will not make a reappearance.
