Israel would love to pull out of Lebanon but they can't.
Hezbollah crossed the Lebanese border into Israel and attacked an Israeli military post. Although this conflict is centuries old, it was that act that set off this current battle. The blood of every dead Lebanese civilian is on the hands of Hezbollah, Syria and Iran.
This could have been avoided if the UN was anything more than a token body made to look impactful despite it doing nothing for decades. They passed a resolution demanding the disarmemnet of Hezbollah long ago.
As usual, a UN Resolution was ignored and nothing was done about it since anything the UN does isn't worth the paper it's printed on and now, here we are.
Thanks Kofi Annan you colossal idiot. Keep thinking you actually matter buddy....

Actually, the facts show otherwise. Israel has done a reasonably good job of avoiding Lebanese military targets. Additionally, they have warned Lebanese civillians to stay out of the combat zone. It seems that Israel is doing everything it can to avoid undue damage to a country that has played host to terrorists.
They're specifically targeting Hezbollah, which is a terrorist organization. Granted, there have been mistakes. There always are when the bombs start flying, but Israel HAS shown a degree of restraint here.

No. Israel is not saying that Lebanon does not have the right to exist. Israel would be more than happy to leave Lebanon alone if they would control the terrorists within their borders. Israel is trying to protect itself from a terrorist organization that is firing rockets at its civilians. When Israel accidentally kills civilians in an attempt to take out Hezbollah rocket launchers, it is considered a tragedy, but no one is expressing outrage over the fact the Hezbollah is trying to kill as many Israeli citizens as possible. Before Israel launches attacks on areas, it first drops leaflets informing the citizens that they should leave and broadcasts radio into the area warning innocent civilians to escape. Hezbollah, on the other hand, is trying for maximum Israeli casualties. If Hezbollah continues to attack Israel and hide behind any civilians that have not evacuated they can find, they force Israel's hand in its attempts to save itself and its citizens from Hezbollah's attacks. The casualties are very sad, but should be considered casualties caused by Hezbollah and not by Israel. Israel would never hide its armies within its own civilian populations to provoke enemies into killing Israeli citizens.

Lebanon is not the target of Israel. They are hitting Hezbollah positions and defending themselves. In reality they should be attacking Syrian and Iran military installations because that would let those countries know supporting Hezbollah is not going to work.

Man are you not up on the Protocols of The Learned Elders of Zion... the jews are the only humans... the rest of us are animals... as far as Jews are concerned none of us have a right to exist... two Israeli soldiers = 2,400 Lebanese men, women, and children (non-combatants)....

Seems to me that Hezballah (sp) is Israel's real target and that we should bring pressure on Syria and Iran to end their support for this organization.
