Okay, so he got a DWI---Big Deal!! There are so many millions of people who get DWIs on a daily basis. Besides, actors/actresses are HUMAN and society shouldnt put them on a pedistle as if they represent Virtue.

I am not implying that he should get "special treatment"--It's just that one shouldnt be Surprised that he got in trouble like this.

According to law, arresting Gibson was a valid move. Giving him a BREAK doesnt mean "letting him go"---It just means that the media should have something better to publicize than some random drunk driving story. THINK ABOUT IT---If anybody who is no longer as famous as Gibson is had a similar DWI incident, it wouldnt be publicized as much.

I don't see why we even need to hear about it. why does'nt the media tell us when he uses the rest room.

You're absolutely right. He is human. And he shouldn't be placed on a pedestal. That would make him just like one of us. Which means his *** should be losing his license for getting yet ANOTHER DWI. This is not the first time he's gotten caught. I know normal every day people who have lost their license after the first offense. But I'm betting Mel won't see a day in court much less lose his license. You want Mel to get a break? He got one. He's not spending 30 days in jail, or being forced into rehab or losing his license. There's his break. The next time you want to stick up for him do me a favor. Go out and get wasted and go do double the speed limit somewhere, get arrested and tell the police to cut you a break because, hell, you're just human. Then, when you're sitting in a detox tank, you can keep telling yourself that poor old Mel is getting shafted.

Mel Gibson is a Christian. So everybody who isn't a Christian is going to jump all over him. Non Believers just love watching a Christian stumble and fall.
However, if you look at the example Mel Gibson gave us, he did exactly what the scriptures say we must do when we sin.
He apologized to the people he sinned against. He gave a public apology and called his behavior "dispicable." I would imagine that he has, in the quiet of his own home or church, asked God's forgiveness and received it. Mel Gibson is a saved sinner who knows exactly what he did was wrong. He took the steps he needed to take, and that's it. It is finished! Jesus tells us in the Bible that he will not even remember our sins if we are truly repentent and completely walk away from them. I believe Mel Gibson will do exactly that.

It wasn't really the DWI that got people's attention. It was the anti-jew rant he went on while he was getting arrested.
Does he does deserve a break? nah. You or I wouldn't get a break, so why should he. If it were the average citizen, 20 other charges would have been tagged on for the disrespectful attitude he gave the officer(s).

Nope... he's Mr. Holier than Thou, but he's no better than anyone else. He broke the law and said some pretty awful things to the police. When you're drunk, the part of the brain that censors what you really feel is dulled and broken, so drunks speak the truth (for the most part).
I've lost all respect for the man.

Mel Gibson got a DUI AND he admitted to having an alcohol problem. He was driving twice the speed limit and he could have killed someone. He does NOT deserve special treatment.

I don't think he deserves a legal break, but I think he was very, very smart and mature about how he took responsibility for his actions and the invective he hit the arresting officers with. (Darn, ended with a preposition!) He amditted he was wrong, and asked for forgivenss, aknowledged he was nto perfect and said what he did was wrong and he was thankful he was caught before he injured anyone. I don't see anything he could do better, other than not doing it in the first place, but that is not an option.

yes i agree with what you added. i think he deserves more. for 'christ's sake' he's a complete janus! one minutes says the jews are great and the next says 'the jews are responsible for all the wars today!' after doing 87 in a 45!! COME ON! someone stone him already!
and they are role models - it comes with the territory! they are role models for many poeple all the time! 24/7! it doesn't turn on if off b/c they're human (which just means they should be treated like the rest of us - like you mentioned all the millions who get dwi's - like LOSE OF LISENCE)!

It's not the DUI, it's the hatred toward the Jews. He needs to give them a break, there's enough hatred in the world, and now that Mel has become somewhat of a Christian spokesman, he should set a good example and not promote anti-semitism.

Yes he is only human BUT DWI is a serious offense. Getting arrested is getting off easy...killing someone or yourself is the hard way.

I think so too. Truth is -- look how long he's been married to the SAME WOMAN??? How awesome is that? Judges, lawyers and cops get DUIs. It can happen to someone so easily. Go out for a couple drinks - not drunk -- but drive home (look how packed the bar parking lots are) and you have a tail lite out - they smell alcohol and you are busted.
