Something's happening to our democracy by degrees and it's though the citizens THINK they're powerless to do something about it. Why isn't there a tremendous outcry about what this president's doing to the country?!!

Not enough people care, and too many people have been brainwashed to think the government has the right to do anything it wants.

Plus, it's shameful how few people know what their rights actually are. The entire Bill of Rights can fit on one page of paper. Try this sometime -- get a group of your friends around, and see how many of the rights contained in the first ten Amendments you can name.

I did this with my family last spring. Collectively (not counting me, who was studying for the bar at the time), they could only name half of the amendments at all, and even of those at most half of the rights granted in each one.

If people don't understand what they're losing, and refuse to spend the effort learning about the laws, they don't even realize when our elected officials are breaking the law.

It's amazing to me how many people still think the warrantless wiretap program is legal, just because our Commander-in-Sheik claims it is, without ever having read the laws in question. They just believe what they're told, and don't research it themselves to form their own opinion.

The problem is apathy, and too many people just not caring about what happens to them or their descendants. People forget, however, that apathy and blind trust in the government was the primary cause of every major modern tyranny that has ever existed.

The president is doing real things that are wrong, but there is so much junk about Bush being worse than Hitler, or Bush being the antichrist, that the majority of people quit listening to ANY of it. I still speak out against the domestic spying, but the bill to impeach Bush over that hasn't happened yet. Is Cheney the president and Bush a puppet? That's the way it seems to me.

Good question...
Mainstream liberal media simply does not seem to report or complain...
It appears that governments natural insatiable appetite for power
and money will not be stopped until enough people force it to be
stopped...
Liberal government politicians are in such a synergestic relationship with voters who benefit from government redistribution of the wealth that stopping the government power grab and parallel loss of freedoms is going to be all but impossible. Once voters learn that they can gain access to
the public treasury by voting for crooked politicians then the end of freedom , democracy and national greatness is near.

what right s have been taken away from YOU?
not some illegal immigrant migrant farmworker in simi valley, not the guy in chicago getting his phone tapped because his is under suspicion of funneling money to hezbollah? YOU! the majority of citizens in this country are not making a fuss about their rights being taken away because their rights are not being taken away. It's the too far left lib media and over-zealous pinkos that are making this to be more than it is because they think it's their job to fight the Bangor, Maine City Hall from San Franfrickinsisco.

Perhaps these rights that they have taken away never affected me in the first place. If they told me I could never have white vinegar again, it wouldn't bother me one bit. Now I think the folks in Chicago have a right to scream because they can no longer have pate DE foie gras because their democrat leaders think its not good for them. Talk about oppressive. That is what I call controlling.

Do you ever watch FSTV? (Free Speech) It is on Satellite. There are lots of people trying to do something, but it still only amounts to a cry in the wilderness - and that is what your government is counting on!
