The TV show CSI tries to emulate as much as possible of CSI in real life, but the show producer himself admits that is not accurate to real life CSI. The processes used, the terms, situations, SOPs, are followed to the tiniest detail, but not always. The most notable discrepancy is the time factor. I have a friend who studies forensic science who hates me for liking CSI.

CSI is way too fast. I know that in real life, you can't do a DNA test in an hour (or whatever other absurdly short time they have it taking on the show). To do the tests right, you need a period of a day at least, and with the backlogs at most police testing labs, you probably end up waiting several weeks to get DNA evidence.

I think it is just like real life except for the television camera crew. It does seem to be real technical. Most real cases are probablly not as involved either.
