But the thing about his character was that he did not believe in the Force. You could call this agnosticism I suppose, for there is a theory that the Force is George's vision of God. Han Solo then would be a heretic, but you liked him anyway. Shines a happy light on all the real-life agnostics (and atheisists) out there. If, that is, you give a mystically levitated fig what George Lucas thinks.

It does say in several of the books made after the movies that there are some people that "shine in the force" whose personalities, natural strength, and intuition are so strong that they stand out. Han, Mon Mothma, Wedge Antillies and a few others are recognized as having this ablity.

If you read the books, yes, I think he did have some connection to the force. Not Jedi-like, but some.
