sell it, and get the money

Since it's very expensive, the owner might even post the announcement over the television and offer a reward.
If anyone saw me with it, they would think I stold it and would try to take it away from me so they would turn it in and get a reward.
The only person that could buy the ring would be a millionaire but they wouldn't dare because they would think that I'm trying to phunk them and it's not really worth $1million or they would have not buyed it because of the TV announcement.
Because of this reasons I would return it and get the reward, so my concience would be clean.

You would have to turn it in. You have no where to sell it. Any reputatble business yoiu would TRY to sell it in, would question where it came from. *shrugs* The best bet would be to bring it to the police and wait to see if there is a reward. After a certain amount of time, you are entitled to claim the lost property, if no one comes forward. THEN, with an affidavid from the cops, you MIGHT be able to sell it. But, not for the full Million. That's retail. Any place that is a resale shop for items of this nature, would not give your more than 20% of the ring's actual value. So, you'd get tops, $200,000.

Try to find the owner and return it. My conscious would not allow me to keep it. And maybe....the person that lost it might have a reward for my good deed. Think about it...the original ring was/is worth $1million. So if they have that for a ring, I'm sure they have plenty more for good citizen.

I'd turn it in to the police, place an ad announcing a found ring without a description of the ring. I'd also make sure the police get an actual description of the ring before handing it over. And if no one claimed it in the amount of time allowed by law, I'd keep it if it wasn't an engagement ring. If it was, I'd trade it in.

Being the honest person that I usually am...I'd turn it in to the police or something to see if they can find who the owner is. You never know, that could be a precious family heirloom or an engagment ring that a guy saved meticulously for!! If no owner is found after a certain amount of time then the finder usually gets the item...finders keepers! :-)

I would first fight with my inner self the angel to the devil
awwww have to find the owner..........
they probly threw it in anger wear it..........
i have lost my engagement ring 2 weeks after I received it and it was never returned and in the area i was in it could have easily been done so.....goes to show you there are dishonest people though they will be forever curses from guilt!
Hard Q. Depends on the circumstances when where and how......

i dont take things that do not belong to me... i will search for the person who lost that... i have lost a ring in the past, not a diamond one n believe me it was a ring gifted to me by someone in the family. i felt really sad. i guess the owner of the diamond ring will feel so as well... i cannot make myself happy wen someone else is unhappy

I would like to think that I would be honest enough to try and find the owner, but then I would probably say to myself "if they can afford this, I'm sure they have enough money to replace it, or insurance to cover it" and then I'd keep it, sell it and pay off my debts and by my mom a house.

put an ad in the paper describing where you found it, and hopefully someone claims it...

Sentimental value is priceless and keeping it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Someone's loss shouldn't be your gain.
If you can't be trusted to do the right thing in this situation, then any other situation you get yourself into can be scruitinized.

Take it to a jeweller and see if it has the microscript or an owners registry. Put an add in the newspaper. If in 3months no ones claimed it, keep it for myself.
