I beleive McCain is the most feeling and humanitarian Replublican.

There are many very intelligent Republicans. The problem is, they are selfish and don't give a crap about humanitarianism. They only work for the wealthy contributors. Like the extortionist bill they are trying to pass now. They will raise the minimum wage IF they get to give the wealthiest people in this country a tax break. (drop the estate tax). Pathetic.

It's all about what people stand for, it doesn't matter how intelligent they are.

According to a survey poll Condi Rice beats all match ups in an imaginary election held today. Some whisperers say she's got the same team behind her now that Bush Sr. introduced to Dubya. McCain is just too damn old.

I would say John McCain is the smartest Democrat; just needs to change parties.

But you need to define your term "smartest". Highest IQ, or best education, most street savy, best at getting re-elected, best at fooling the fools and lieing (clinton has that one hands down).

Personally, I think they are all out for number one, so doubt the question has any bases in reality anyway.

McCain is disappointing. He backed down from Bush's accusation in 2000 and has been kissing his as s ever since.

Someone needs to take control of the Republican party and force out the extreme right wing religious element.

The smartest republican is the one who tells his party to follow what they stand for not going against their voter base. There are no republicans like that because they are only interested in getting rich and lining their own pockets - hmmm- just like the democrats!

Any republican, even arnold, is smarter than any loser in the democratic party. Any party in which Howard Dean is the president of is a joke. Most democrats are liberal and that simply means they are baby killing anti American losers. That is why all of the offices in this country are majority Republicans. People are sick and tired of the whiney dems. Howard Dean, what a comical joke.

It isn't about smarts. Especially when it comes to a party with an anti-intellectual appeal, as the Republicans traditionally are. I'm sure a lot of them are smart, but their values are twisted.

I am not an affiliate of either major party.

I think Condoleezza Rice is brilliant and I very much hope she will run for president.
