How can they own these types of cars when they live in apartments/trailers, and crappy houses?

They like them because their favorite artists have them too. They have these because in the 60's black people were not allowed to live in nice neighborhoods so their wealth was represented by their cars. The tradition just kept on going.

The question should be why people like the Escalade so much; Irregardless of their race or where they live?
I guess it allows them to drive a Humongous gas hog SUV and a POS status symbol at the same time.

I resent the statement that black people live in trailers and crappy houses. I'm black and I live in a beautiful house I will have you know.
Not all black people are poor and not all white people are rich. People are people and that is that!
Plus for all you know they prob bought shabby cars but used their skills and intellect to fix it up

Five reasons reasons:
1) It's a Cadillac and Blacks love Cadillacs historically (they seem to think their junk ghetto Caddy shows status)
2) It's quite large and opulent ("Bling" to the street illiterate).
3) It is ostentatious and just like the ones their idiot Rap star heroes drive
4) Blacks like to waste money on useless crap like giant shiny wheels - instead of a college education
5) Drug dealers are usually Blacks because they lack the resourcefulness and hard work ethics of other minorities (Asians, Mexicans, Indians, etc).
