There are a lot of conditions that can cause pain between the shoulder blades. It could be tension, strain from working on a computer, or a host of other things. It could also be heart related, or referred pain from other areas of the body.
It would be best to see a physican to rule out any serious maladies, and then maybe take a hot bath and get a good massage.
Hope this helps!

If this is like a knife stabbing pain that just suddenly occured it is called thoracic neuritis. I will go away but you will need to stand against the corner of a door and push to get this feeling out of the back and/or hand upside down on monkey bars for a few minutes. I usually get this when a really bad case of heartburn wants to come on.

I had the same symptoms 2 weeks ago. Go see your doctor asa p. it could be stress related like mine was and the doctor might give you a prescription gel to rub on your back or will advise you accordingly. I intially went for a massage and that didnt help at all so get professional advise first.

This sounds like tension from hunching over your desk/computer, etc. Sit straight in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Pull your shoulders backward, as if you were trying to make your shoulderblades touch each other. Relax. Do this several times, especially while you're working at a desk. DON'T SHRUG your shoulders, draw them straight back. Remind yourself to do this periodically throughout the day to ease the muscles, and keep them from tightening up.

Go see a good chiropractor. Most likely your neck is out of alignment. Have you been in some sort of an accident lately, or have you fallen? I know it sounds weird, but everytime my back hurts between the blades, it is my neck that is out of alingment.

Good luck.

A good massage often helps, failing that a very hot bath relaxes the muscles

Go to the nearest school yard and hang upside down from the bars. Your spine is out of alignment.
