There used to be a network of mental hospitals for people who could not handle living in society. They were off the streets and got care and medication. Then Ronald Reagan as a means of cutting expenses said Lets Mainstream Them, so he closed the mental hospitals and all these crazy people have been on the streets ever since. They poop on the streets. One crazy guy just murdered a property owner in my town. Nobody likes to pay taxes, but sometimes its a better alternative than what you get if you don't. Do you think the dead guy's family would rather have their dad back, or are they happier with their tax cut?

I was homeless once because I was too sick to keep my job. The first thing that went was my apartment. I can relate to homeless people. The State of Texas representatives picked me up and put me through the Social Security Disability program including shelter for 3 years until my disability went through. They're not all alcoholics and drug addicts. Some are people like me who got a mental illness and cannot function at a daily job. Disability shouldn't take 3 years. We need to get some of these people off the streets and into the appropriate programs.....)(

Maybe if we shifted the billions of dollars spent on other nations and a win less war on drugs we could create life skills classes into our public education system to prevent homelessness, alcoholism, and drug addiction. An ounce of prevention etc..The billions each year keeping potheads locked away is a disgusting misuse of funds that should be used to educate our youth and provide morals. Obviously many Americans are inadequate at providing these to there own children. What wonderful potential our great country has. Let's just not let it slip away.

LMAO! I saw a guy at the store yesterday, using a stick underneath the Coinstar machine to get the extra change. People were looking at him like he was doing something wrong. I thought "nobody even thought about underneath the machine, until he came in". As soon as we see somebody with something we think, should that be mine? Having said that, I am a chef, and have the hardest time finding dishwashers, or at least enough of them. I always offer a person a job, instead of giving them anything. Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever. Some of them take it, some don't.

First, a question actually two questions,
#1 How do you know they are homeless? I know many people and the homeless looks better many times that have homes.
#2 How do you know that the stuff is stolen? Did you help them steal it?
Homeless people get stuff various legal ways. Yard sales. Some people even homeless people get broken weed eaters and fixes then up, then they take it to the "pawn shop" or other place to sell to make money to live on.
I think the real question here is why are you so covertness on what others do and why peg the blame on the homeless?
Your questions reeks with hate and you are trying to incite people to do harm against a group of people just as hitler did to the Jews. Instead of trying to bring hope to people who need hope you want to bring sadness.
Maybe G-d in his mercy will bring you to become homeless then you can truly see what its like to try to make it through life in this harsh world with people like you trying to do them in.
I may not get best answer for this but I am not here for points but to let people understands how they have compassion on homeless people. People become homeless for many reasons and most of the time it is not their fault.
To learn more about great homeless people etc. as Kevin says there is more to homeless people then "homelessness"

Mom and Dad always told me not to take things that don't belong to me. I wonder if the folks that do these things either didn't have mom or dad...or not enough time w/ mom and dad or...just don't care anymore.
I don't think people are encouraged to succeed in schools any more...only to get by...so when getting by is stealing and conning...this is what they do.
I should be able to leave my car running at the grocery store and walk home and have someone take the time to return it to me because something must be wrong if I left something so valuable so accessible...but know one cares about his brother/sister anymore...very sad...I am going to ask this question...if this is the Me generation...what's next...

No because it isn't always homeless people! Even if it is, they only take pocket change, and they need it more than you do. Not
all homeless people are drug addicts and alcoholics. And some people might have a house, but no job. Anyway, we should be giving billions to support them.

I have never seen a "bunch" of people wandering into pawn shops with crap like that. Most pawn shops require ID and won't buy from you unless they're reasonably sure the stuff is not hot.
A guy, stinking of booze and dissheveled walks into a pawn shop with a weed whacker and walks out with 10 bucks right?? Gimme a break. Where do you live??
I think you got ripped off..are bitter and making up all of this pawn shop crap.

yeah, why don't we take all the homeless people, put them in a big cannister, and like, throw them into the ocean.
you seem a very compassion-less person. why not, instead of flooding our already overcorwded jails with petty criminals, spend our money creating homeless shelters to rehabilitate these people. get them off drugs and alcohol, get them a job, get them mental and physical health care, and teach them to be productive members of society again.
