1986, but in the middle of the season.
His first baseball card of a regular set (printed at beginning of the season) was in 1987. However, he did have a card in the 1986 Traded sets (printed mid-way through the season). The 1986 Traded cards are his true rookie cards (they're also much more rare, and very valuable), but the 1987 are technically still considered rookie cards.
